Visit the glistening waters for an evening boat tour of Oyster Bay, named after the small oysters that cling to the mangrove.
The bay contains billions of microorganisms called dinoflagellates when stimulated emits visible lights just like fireflies. The lagoon glows because of millions of tiny microorganisms called dinoflagellates. When disturbed by movement — like a hand swish, fish swimming, or a boat gliding — the water lights up with an otherworldly neon-blue glow. Jamaica’s Luminous Lagoon is said to be the brightest in the world due to its warm climate and shallow waters.
